Miss Alexis: Montessori Children's Garden
Miss Alexis
I have been teaching at MCG for well over five years now. I am the Montessori toddler room teacher. I enjoy being in the classroom observing the children working. I love working with the children and certainly listening to the stories they have to tell. I like to think of the classroom as the child’s classroom because the classroom is meant for them to explore hands on and really try to figure out how to use the materials.
Working with the children on a daily basis really helps me to be able to build that relationship with the child individually. It's fun to see what different types of tasks or goals the children accomplish. Each child is different and not all of them are going to have the same goal. So for me to be able to be a part of their goals is such a special thing. Just being able to sit back and take in everything that each child is doing is really amazing. Watching all of their little faces light up after they accomplish something is truly what makes being a teacher so amazing.
It is a huge honor to be able to work next to such a talented group of teachers. The teachers are always so happy to be here, to be with the children. We are a little family always making sure the children have what they need. Coming to work every day with the staff that we have is a huge blessing.
When I think of MCG I think of a little community. We work to not only build a relationship with the students but we also build a strong relationship with the parents. I think it's important to take the time to get to know the parents so that we have that bond where they are happy knowing their children are safe and loved.
